Homemade Nickel Iron Batteries

Howdy Guys,

Please check out the info links below my letter from our internet prep friend, Steve Spence, that he sent on NiFe batteries via the simplyoffgrid yahoo group. The price up front seems pretty expensive, but possibly cost effective in the long run.

However, what intrigues me most is that we may be able to much more cost effectively build these NiFe batteries, which are also called Edison batteries.

Mac, you may want to watch the really cool "how to" youtube video on a small homemade NiFe battery. It would seem that several of these could be hooked up to run night lights and kept charged by a small PV panel.

There could be many possibilities in what we could do with these homemade, long life batteries on a larger scale. You could do one of the small ones at our next BSOSC meeting that you host. The link to the video is:

There is a very good website, Electropaedia, you may want to check out for a wealth of alternative energy info. The link to their page on NiFe batteries is:
Their site says:

The site contains a comprehensive knowledge base about energy supply and battery technologies, battery applications, chargers and ancillary equipment. It also contains a History of Technology (with a special mention of batteries of course)

In regard to the site is intended for, it says:

It should be useful to educators, product designers, battery applications engineers, electric traction specialists and energy systems planners.

That pretty much says us :geek: !!! Anyway, it could be a resource of helpful info as we try to more "rapidly" move forward with our alternative energy systems developments.

Mac, we will be happy to help work on this NiFe battery development project with whomever from your task force wants to take the lead on the project.

Happy Preparedness Trails,

Get your order in soon. I have no financial interest in this company,
but am a firm believer in the NiFe "forever" batteries.
