Howdy All,
The last portion of what I'm posting below was posted earlier in an update SOS/BSOSC products report. I have now evolved the next, production system, phase for ICE which is explained in the first portion of the below posting. I welcome any and all feedback, ideas, criticism, whatever...jpf

Howdy All,

After some pondering, I decided to send this letter to many people in my email contacts list. Some are friends, some business contacts, some people met in various activities.

Below is a posting I put on our http://www.bsoscblog.com today. As you will read, we are trying to get a handle of the vast array of things we are working on. Considering it may be of interest to some of you, it is now being sent to you. Though it could be construed to be a commercial for http://www.sosgeneralstore.com, it is far from it. We are not close to being ready to sell a single one of the products listed below. Actually, as it says, we will freely share diy info on any of it for you guys and gals who can strike an arc or drive a nail without smashing your thumb!

Also, we have our little mini stimulus plan. But before going into it, I should mention our ICE (Intentional Community Economy) plan we have developed in http://www.bsoscblog.com, where you can find details. ICE creates a local economic system to maintain personal commerce when the dollar and our current economy hit upcoming really hard times. Though ICE creates an exchange system, the primary element is still missing, a source of important goods and services must be produced. Tom Baugh's book, Starving The Monkeys does a fantastic job in describing this basis for economy with a quite detailed and humorous story on commerce being developed by early humans.

We figure if we can develop products that people really need, it will create a production opportunity for many people. We could not possibly go into commercial quantity production of every product. We want to share our plan idea so others may get ideas for implementing something similar in their area.

Here is how it works here locally. Many of the members of BSOSC are having quite a financial struggle in staying afloat in today's economy. We have made an offer to several of these. They can come over and use our shop to produce a product of their choice. We will furnish shop, equipment, utilities and front the cost of raw materials. We will let them figure out the net cost of production with our assistance. A selling price will be determined. When the products are sold in our online/onsite store, http://www.sosgeneralstore.com or wherever else they find a market, we will split the profit. These folks then only risk their labor and all the other risk is on us.

If they have their own shop facilities, funding, etc. and don't need to use ours, then they can produce the products we have developed or they come up with. We will then help them with marketing the products via our store or wherever. They can set their price to us as distributors.

Our key criteria is producing products people will really need, strictly avoiding fluff, non-essential consumer indulgence stuff!
This is pretty much taking the cottage industry approach to see people create local economies in many areas that can grow according to effort, being only limited to outside circumstances over which none of us have any control. If this started happening in prep groups all around the nation, more prosperity would be created, more service attitude generated and more friendships and camaraderie evolving in communities.

This could go a long way toward providing production capability to anyone willing to get off their butt and apply their full potential. They could not use the excuse that life was unfair and they had no opportunity.

There are a lot more ideas for useful products than what we are working on and have listed below. Any products that enable people to do more for themselves in becoming more self-reliant reduces their cost of living while greatly increasing their quality of life. Now maybe we will be able to help generate economic opportunity in their producing some of those products.

Having been struggling in business for decades, we know all people are not cut out to be the spark plugs of a business and that most are loyal workers in the right situation. This cottage industry plan would accommodate both. The self-starting spark plugs could produce work opportunities for the others.

As we develop this next phase of ICE based upon the info detailed here, it will probably be listed under the ICE forum on http://www.bsoscblog.com as the Production sub-forum. This will enable us to post updates accessible to all that want to do something similar in their own area.

Any of you that need personal questions answered that we do not cover on the blog, we will be glad to answer your emails as quickly as we can.

Our govt. can't seem to create jobs in the private sector, so maybe us Montana country-bumpkins can help get the ball rolling on small cottage scales among awakened folks around the country!

We wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and Blessed New Year in 2011!

Happy Preparedness Trails,

Jim

Update On SOS/BSOSC DIY Self-Reliance Products

Postby jpf1030 » Sat Dec 18, 2010 5:21 pm
Howdy All,
We have been doing R&D work on so many products and projects around our place, my mind was getting scrambled in trying to keep up with them. To avoid it getting worse, today I went through a recall process to list the products in OEM development by http://www.sosgeneralstore.com. I had to get a younger, brainy one, my astute son-in-law right-hand man in running our operation, Jeff Burrows (designated administrator of this site) to help me in the recall process. Between us, we managed to itemize a whopping 33 products in various stages of development.

Though those products will hopefully be our mainstay in 2011 to generate enough revenue to keep about 8-10 people working in our little cos. and being sold through our http://www.sosgeneralstore.com, our service spirit remains strong. Any diy BSOSC member wanting to come out to learn how to make any of the products for themselves are welcome to freely do so.

We will always freely help any who are trying to do for themselves. Well, not quite free. Our charge is that you give your promise to in turn freely help someone else, never turning down anyone who comes to you in the right manner. Some of the greatest wealth gained in life is sharing our skills, knowledge and when possible, means in helping people learn and do, to help themselves become more self-reliant, who will in turn do the same in teaching yet other people to do likewise. I often wonder how fast our world would change in dissipating want and deprivation of the suffering if all people would connect with the Creator and purify their hearts to adopt this attitude!

The below list of our products is from a letter I sent to a supplier. It is limited to our products, with no reference to our extensive projects of self-reliance around our place. The project list will have to be another undertaking, which maybe should be done soon so we don't forget things that we may could share to help others...jpf

We are starting to build OEM products for sales through our http://www.sosgeneralstore.com. Over the last five years we have been involved in an intense R&D program, building model demonstration products at our facility.

We are ready for starting production on a number of those items. Every product we have built is designed to serve to enable customers to become more economically self-reliant and or to be prepared for emergencies. We will be offering finished products as well as plans and component kits. In our efforts to line up OEM suppliers, we ran across your company. Though we are including an RFQ with this letter for pipe fittings, we will be needing numerous other component parts, which I will detail below.

We have built most and are gearing up in building a few remaining prototypes for: 1) wood gasifier heat exchanger; 2) methane biogas digester; 3) biogas feed mass chopper kits; 4) charcoal kiln; 5) charcoal extruder & mold kit; 6) solar dehydrator; 7) garbage incinerating heat collector; 8) in planning on alcohol fuel still; 9) solar ice maker; 10) wood gas generator; 11) wood gas cook stoves; 12) solar drip irrigation system; 13) hydrogen generators; 14) EMP protection systems: 15) emergency water filter diy kits; 16) emergency water pump diy kits; 17) aquaponics systems; 18) thermal mass rocket stove kits; 19) battery rejuvenators; 20) ISBU/Conex shelter-storage units; 21) TEG/atmospheric generators; 22) bio-diesel processor; 23) j-pole ham radio antennas; 24) year round greenhouse kits; 25) hydronic heat system kits for wood gas heat exchangers; 26) large capacity multi-receiver cargo carriers; 27) home fire protection portable pumping units; 28) water storage & filtration systems; 29) engine powered bicycles/tricycles; 30) pyrapi portable emergency shelters; 31) safe rooms w/NBC filtration; 32) cargo hand carts; and 33) pyramid construction systems and energy guidelines.

I have detailed our line of developing products above to enable you to know which product lines of manufacturers you represent that may potentially be applicable to our needs. We will much appreciate any feedback you may have in this regard.

We will look forward to hearing back from you on our attached RFQ and your feedback. Thanks a bunch.

Happy Preparedness Trails,

Jim
