12/19/10 Update: Work on I.C.E. Production System

We are working toward getting the production phase of ICE into a working model to demonstrate that we can create business opportunities and jobs for people by working together to meet the needs of people in coming times. Below is a letter addressing the potential political facet of this effort at the state level here in Montana. Joel is our former legislator that is a true patriot hero. He was on the Glenn Beck show last year because of his freedom work with 2nd Amendment legislation. He was also the main supporter of a bill for a gold silver backed emergency Montana currency that the liberals killed, not letting it get to a full vote. The below letter may or may not be of help to any of you readers. It will be to those serious about developing a local economic system...jpf

Howdy Joel and Elias,

Joel, after you recommended me to Elias for speaking at the Helena meeting, I just want to apologize that I could not make it. I'm still fighting this tooth or gum infection, but the facial swelling is starting to go down. It will be nice to get back to a happy face!

I hope it all went well. I did send an emissary, Marnie ......, to tell a bit about BSOSC as Elias had requested of me. Marnie is a super valiant spirit and one of the most dedicated of BSOSC members, so I'm sure she did a great job with the time she was allotted. She said she only had two minutes, but squeezed in all she could. Marnie said there was a pretty good turn out of about 300 people and she had several people come up and ask her for more info after the mid-day session.

It would have been nice to share what we are doing in BSOSC I.C.E., including the new production phase, in which I sent the letter to you guys yesterday. I'm convinced we can create a Montana macrocosm of microcosm cottage industries around the state producing needful products toward enabling increased self-reliance on the part of Montana citizens.

As you know, I'm of the persuasion that we are so far into the economic collapse, my perception is that we are probably beyond even state govt. legislative stimulus incentives to be in time for assisting these type cottage industries. But, there is always hope and we should never give up, so that brings me to a discussion you and I had last year.

You had contacted me about introducing legislation for tax credits for preppers because we both knew this would take a burden off the state in providing for citizens in times of catastrophic events. Sadly, you were not re-elected to see this through. Do you think anyone in the new legislature would be willing to take up this banner?

Similarly there could be possibility for tax credits, other benefits, etc., legislation regarding our plan for cottage industries production of self-reliance oriented products. This would create new manufacturing jobs for Montanans creating revenues and prepare Montana customers of those products, making them so much less likely to be dependent upon state govt. support in times of emergency. Anyone thinking we will not be heading into emergency situations are quite the expert in their ostrich-ism skills.

This will make the plan details readily available for any that may be interested who were not on my email contacts list.

Authors, Tom Greco, The End of Money and Future of Civilization and Tom Baugh, Starving The Monkeys have become good internet friends, giving me much food for thought in getting to the point thus far progressed in our I.C.E. I always value their input every time they write to me. I give the highest recommendation to buy these books which will be a valuable reference to the prep library of any group.

Well, I've done it again, in rambling on far too long. Please let me know your opinion, even if you think I'm crazier than a loon in all this babble! I will go ahead and cc this to Greg ...... to see if he knows of anyone in the current legislature who thinks any of this would be worth pursuing at that level.

Thanks for posting this. What others in Montana do not know who do not visit this blog or know of what other projects are going on at hand to help others create a viable economy without any Government is the fact there is so much potential for self employment through creating products for survival and self sufficiency in their own homes to sell and later for trade for other goods.

Because of the large population of the USA, it would be impossible for any one small business to take on the demands of creating such products. Thus more creative hands will have to take up the slack, thus creating their business where ever they are, even outside the United States.

Things that cannot be produced in large quantities from any small business such as the various types of gasifiers, various types of generators, solar ice makers, solar dehydrators, and other products that are time consuming and some have to be built upon an order to lower the overhead expenses, these are things that others in other towns and cities can build themselves for profit and offers such in home business opportunities.

I would like to see everyone have all they need to be prepared. I would like to see everyone have a product or skill they can use for trade when the economy collapses. The biggest demand will be for food, this offers a wide range of opportunities for anyone to grow food to sell or trade with. Even Sprouts and spices can be grown in containers right on the kitchen counter. This area of food production is very vital to keep everyone fed who do not grow food themselves and mostly were not prepared for doing so, but when the time comes they will be more willing to learn the process and grow food themselves as both a business opportunity and for themselves.

Ethanol producers will be as popular as food producers in any disaster. Those who can build ethanol stils and those who produce ethanol are both going to find they will have lots of friends very quickly. A very strong trade market in both food and ethanol.

So we have to find a way to get others across the State and across the Nation to understand the vital importance of being a producer or manufacturer of certain goods. Whether it be your relatives, friends or just people you find on the Internet in other social networks, there has to be a call sent out to as many as possible to get involved and it offers them a job opportunity when they lose their job or they can do it on the side for extra profit. For when the time comes, they will have that skill and knowledge to build or produce those products needed that will be great demand. As it will also be as easy for them to teach others how to grow their own food or manufacture such products to be used for trade as well.

Another huge demand will be gunsmiths. Those that take the time and download all the FREE ebooks on gunsmithing and learn how to do it properly will find they have a very valuable trade. Those who can reload bullets and have the equipment will also be in demand.

Pottery makers will also have a nice valuable asset. Making and selling crocks will be very valuable to them.

Mechanics will be also popular. Those who have a few cars sitting around for parts should know those parts will be valuable to someone else during a disaster. Even those alternators can be turned into windmills, which there is a whole market in solar and wind generators as well.

The list goes on, but perhaps we should make up a list and look for those who are interested in learning those things (which most of it can be downloaded from free ebooks off the Internet or from Instructables) to learn how to do those things.

Perhaps someone should put on a DIY job fair to create a new industry in America through building survival goods that anyone can make from their own homes to sell. If not, then advertise in the Newspaper or online that people are needed to fill in these gaps in society for those times of disaster.

Profitable areas for both trade and self sustainment include:

Welders and metal workers
Construction workers
Cement or clay brick makers
Herbalists
Doctors, Nurses and nutritionists, including Midwives
Food producers (all kinds) ***** If you have food to sell, its worth more than gold.
Water treatment specialists and water filter manufacturers
Solar and Wind generator manufacturers
Gasifier manufacturers
Auto Mechanics
Gunsmiths
Ammo reloaders
Pottery makers
Bio-fuel (manufacturers and producers)
Technicians and Electricians
Glass makers (Using Tesla's simple design to make light bulbs)
Self defense instructors. (Including pistol and rifle training.) Gun dealers will be needed to.

Feel free to add to this list to give others ideas for building their own home business in which can be used as a survival skill later on during a disaster.
